Creative Critical Reflection

Image
After a long time of losing files, not having space, and ultimately getting a headache from trying to perfect my CCR I had to face reality and do what I could especially with the deadline approaching. So here is my finished CCR done through PowerPoint, I hope this is an at least good CCR.  I also want to say that this experience even though it may have had minor bumps was really fun and I learned a lot and it has created a hobby in videography now. My teammates were great and lovely students who were just as determined, and exited as me, making the process even better Signing out, Victoria-Renai

Adding a flash forward

Image
I wanted to make a post dedicated to explaining why me and my group decided to use a flash forward as a opening. We did this because we wanted to reel the viewer in and link the ending to the beginning. After watching our complete movie, I think we should have differentiated in maybe color or shutter speed to signify that the scene was different. "Remy dreams of becoming a great chef, despite being a rat in a definitely rodent-phobic profession. He moves to Paris to follow his dream, and with the help of hapless garbage boy Linguini he puts his culinary skills to the test in the kitchen but he has to stay in hiding at the same time" (Wikipedia) For example, like this scene in ratatouille where the food critic takes a bite of food and a flashback is shown of him as a child the explicit appearance change along with the color shift lets the viewer know that this is a flashback. if me and my group would have done one of those two things our film opening scene may have looked more...

Bad News

Unfortunately due to me using a computer that lacks space my previous CCR that I had spent two days editing experienced a file corruption so I am starting over from scratch with my CCR. Along with some of my blogs that I had as drafts to edit them have also disappeared. This is a major setback and has killed my motivation leaving me very down and unmotivated but despite that I will try my best to create an even better CCR the second go round.

Understanding Cap-Cut

Image
I figured since I have a basic understanding of Cap-Cut I'd explain it. Here is where we manipulated the footage in changing the speed, adding animations, cropping footage, and lowering or heightening the volume in certain scenes for certain sounds. Here you can add text on top of the media playing. You can alter the font, size, alignment, and add animations to help the text fit the timing of your film. We used this for our credits . This is were you add specific audio tracks such as background tracks, or voice overs. You can also determine the volume here as well. This is where you see all your hard work and determine if something needs to be added or manipulated to make for film look perfect. This is the only thing me and group could vaguely understand when starting Cap-Cut. This is where you change the order of your scenes to show in the order of your likening. Overview After learning how to work Cap-Cut this is how everything looks

This is not for the weak

Editing day #1 No one said it would be this hard Learning how to edit is something that I am not used to but I didn't expect it to seem impossible the only experience I have with editing would come from me editing a picture on my phone but trying to edit footage to be synchronized and to look professional is very hard especially when you're using a program you're not familiar with there was a lot of trial and error and because no one knew what they were doing we didn't get far in editing our film other than placing the scenes in order and kidding maybe one or two transitions in two attempt and synchronize the first two scenes but even then those were very choppy and did not look very well.  Realizing we had no idea what we were doing we then decided to watch a couple of YouTube videos and attempted to do the tips and tricks we saw just to have a basic understanding of how to do certain things After getting an understanding of the basics we then moved on to more complex ...

Update on production schedule and things we learned

Just a slight update in my team and I's production schedule. We've decided to shift most of are shooting time during study hall and lunch to not rely on our teacher coming on Saturday's. This also allows us on the Saturdays to take our time editing and to have one-on-one time with our teacher to ask questions. New things learned Lenses matter !! They make certain shots 10 times better just by being able to focus on certain thing more. It is crucial to wear the same clothes while recording.  Your scenes do not have to be recorded perfectly. We are not professionals so are film will have flaws it just depends on how we fix them and if we can't in the moment there is no problem researching or asking for help.
