Recap of the week (Choosing Genre)

Since my team and I have a love for thrillers we have settled on a movie that is a thriller with a sub-genre of coming of age. Even though this decision came easily, there was a lot of elimination. The action genre felt too hard to shoot and capture the essence of action since that is a lot of movement. Drama was a genre we weren't confident we could shoot to make sense. Horror was a genre that we stopped to talk about for a second and created ideas for but as time progressed and more ideas were thrown out our film developed and had a thriller feel to it. Romance was a genre film that we all agreed on that we knew we would not do almost immediately just because of a common interest in romance not being our favorite genre. Lastly, comedy was also a genre we talked about but because it was also a highly rated genre on the movie scale but we felt we wouldn't be funny enough so that idea

Joining a group

Today I joined the group with Isabella, Melody, and Mikaela. I initially was going to do my 2-minute film by myself and have my friends outside of my media studies class help me along with some family members which was similar to what my team members were also going to do.  Our partnering was random. All four of my team members stood in front of our teacher's desk asking for a handout, she then proceeded to tell us that we would make a good group together we all agreed that if nobody had any objections then we would try it out. We spent the first couple of minutes of our meeting getting to know one another asking about grades, birthdays, names,  hobbies, and activities that we enjoy outside of school. Our conversation then turned into how we feel about our media studies class so far and what we think we'll get out of it. Just from this conversation I think I'm going to enjoy being in this group and I believe we're going to make a very good 2-minute film everybody seems ...

Getting to know me !!

Hi, my name is Victoria-Renai Chambers. I am a 12th grader at Lauderhill 6-12 in the course named Media Studies 9607. I will be documenting me filming a 2-minute movie opener. I haven’t taken any classes about film, but I do find the concept of studying how a film is used to influence the public and the steps that it takes to produce a film fascinating. I am very excited to do a 2-minute film because it allows me to put into action the things I am learning.  I also enjoy breaking down movies to see how they  portray  meaning.  Hopefully, through this class I develop a new  hobby  dealing with film and producing my own short films.
